About Robin and Coolwater Ranch

Robin Ralston

Robin Ralston grew up learning classical piano, listening to Beethoven, Chopin, Bach and Debussy. At age 12 she listened, awestruck, to Leo Kottke’s “6 and 12 string Guitar “ album, and her influences suddenly widened to include Kottke, John Fahey, John Williams, Elizabeth Cotton, Al DiMeola, Mike Oldfield and others.

Robin cites as one of her favorite memories being taken to McCabes Guitar Shop to hear the legendary Elizabeth Cotton. The people who brought her to the well known venue in Santa Monica were personal friends of Elizabeth, and she was honored to meet this legendary player and musician.

For many years, Robin sought out exceptional music. Her first stab at a house concert was well received, and inspired her to create the Coolwater House Concert Series. She has been able to host many of the most gifted players the world has to offer. The series has been touted by the likes of Mike Dowling, Preston Reed, Peter Lang, Richard Smith and Harvey Reid as one of the best in the country.

She largely handles the workload to produce these events alone, and gives 100% of the donations to the artist. It is truly an acoustic labor of love.

Reservations or passes are a must for these concerts as space is limited.
